The SchureMed Powered Beach Chair is the only shoulder surgery positioning chair on the market with a self-contained motor that does not rely on the surgical table for power. Our double-ball joint head positioning system safely secures the patient’s head even with kyphosis patients. Surgical beach chair adjusts from 0-90° in 8 seconds in a smooth, controlled movement. 2″ (5 cm) deluxe pad set provides complete patient comfort. Motion-control technology eliminates manual patient positioning with a simple push-button hand control. 1,350 lbs. (612 kg) of lift securely supports arthroscopy patients up to 500 lbs (227 kg). Attaches to ANY operating room table with our integrated, adjustable mounting clamps. Lateral brace included.

E-Z Lift Shoulder Chair Pad Set     508-1461

Intended use is to position a patient during a shoulder operation. Powered Beach Chair provides head, back and shoulder support for patients requiring shoulder manipulations and/or surgical procedures. The intended users of this device are medical professionals within hospitals and surgery centers.

Become familiar with the features of patient positioning device before use with a patient. Always practice use on a nurse, physician or appropriate volunteer prior to using clinically.

Shoulder Chair Insertion and Operation For Surgical Tables with Non-Removable Back Sections
  1. Rotate surgical table 180°; lock surgical table to floor; press reverse orientation button on hand control
  2. Lower leg section to 90° or remove surgical table leg sections. Slide chair completely onto side rails. Lock by turning handles to the right on both sides of chair.
  3. Reverse surgical table pad so flat end piece covers the perineal cutout
    Caution! Remove chair prior to raising leg — Severe damage can occur to chair and/or operating room table.
  4. Plug chair into 110V outlet, then push down on hand control to lower chair to supine position
    Caution! Do not raise table section below beach chair as this will damage chair.
Shoulder Chair Insertion and Operation For Surgical Tables with Removable Back Sections 
  1. Remove surgical table head and back sections. Slide chair completely onto side rails. Lock by turning handles to the right on both sides of chair.
  2. Plug chair into 110V outlet, then push down on hand control to lower chair to supine position
Positioning Patient in Chair
  1. To raise patient, push the up button on the hand control
  2. To lower patient, push the down button on the hand control
Shoulder Panel Removal and Insertion
  1. Removal: Turn top and bottom panel latches down to unlocked positions
  2. Hold handle with one hand and lift plunger up, slide panel straight back to remove
  3. Insertion: Slide on track and panel will snap lock. Then turn top and bottom panel latches to locked positions.
Positioning Lateral Brace
  1.  Remove shoulder panel on operative side and slide brace into clamps. Adjust lateral brace to fit each patient. Lock tight by turning locking handles to right.

Prior to Patient Transfer
With surgical table in a level position, adjust headrest assembly as follows to prepare for a patient transfer.

Step 1
Loosen Ball Joint Locking Lever (3), and position support post all the way down and centered in relation to shoulder chair. Tighten Locking Lever (3) when support post is in desired position.

Step 2
Loosen Locking Lever (1) on sliding mechanism and adjust head piece up or down support post to accommodate for patient height.
NOTICE: DO NOT fully secure the locking handle at this time.

Step 3
To loosen head section, move Locking Lever (1) to neutral position on double ball joint. Then position head rest where it is centered with support post and level with shoulder chair pad.

When head rest is in desired position, move Locking Lever (1) either clockwise or counterclockwise to lock double ball joint and secure head section.

Step 4
Patient Transfer and Preparation

Patient Transfer and Preparation for shoulder surgery and/or manipulation:

Transfer patient and loosely secure patient's head with velcro restraint straps.

  • Ensure headrest slides up and down freely on support post.  Loosen slide mechanism Locking Lever (B). Failure to do so could result in patient injury.
  • Bring patient to seated position. Make final adjustments to headrest using Locking Levers (A), (B) and (C). Once headrest is properly adjusted, lock all levers and secure head in place with velcro restraint straps.
  • Place unaffected arm on raised armboard
  • Release shoulder panel supporting affected shoulder by pulling spring loaded plunger and remove panel straight back
  • Add lateral brace on affected side by attaching it to back of chair

Maximum load should not exceed appropriate proportion of a patient weighing 500 lbs. (227 kg). Use care with low-maximum load capacity surgical tables that accessory rails are not overloaded. 


Hazard resulting from incorrect use. Be absolutely sure to follow the instructions for use for your Operating Table system. 

Do not reuse device if there are obvious signs of damage or functional issues. Consult manufacturer before reusing.


CAUTION! Remove chair prior to raising leg or back sections—Severe damage can occur to chair and/or operating room table. 

Follow current Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Journal Guidelines for proper cleaning and disinfection procedure.

Adhere to standards for blood-borne pathogens from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Use recommended protective clothing, gloves, masks and eye protection to clean accessory.

Strictly read/follow manufacturer’s directions for cleaning fluids. DO NOT use cleaners containing phenolics.
  1. Remove major contaminants from accessory with disposable materials. Follow appropriate bio-hazard waste disposal procedures.
  2. Apply cleaning fluid liberally to entire accessory and wipe with clean, lint-free cloth until all moisture and cleaning fluid is removed from accessory
  3. Let accessory dry

Any serious incident that has occurred in relation to the device should be reported to the manufacturer and the competent authority of the Member State in which the user and/or patient is established.
